Royal Auxiliary Air Force - The numbers of regular forces are reducing and this places even more reliance on reserve forces. The RAuxAF is planned to double in size over the next year or so and many of the jobs carried out by reserve personnel are described in this web site. The Reserve Forces Association (RFA) provides opportunities for reservists from all three services to take part in military competitions, exchange training with units from other NATO countries and forums for meeting reservists from countries around the world. It is the UK component of CIOR - NATO's Reserve Officers' Advisory Group.

The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund - the 'debt we owe'. The Royal Air Force Benevolent Fund exists to provide assistance to those of the extended Royal Air Force Family who need support as a consequence of sickness, disability, accident, infirmity, poverty or other adversity.
The Air Training Corps is a national voluntary organisation open to young men and women between the ages of 13 and 18 . The Corps' Air Commodore-in-Chief is His Royal Highness the Duke of Edinburgh.

The Ministry of Defence Veterans Advice Unit (VAU) is there to assist all former members of the Armed Forces, such as veterans of the World Wars, Korea, National Service, the Falklands or Gulf Campaigns, peacetime regulars or volunteer reservists, and their dependents. Telephone 08456 02 03 02

24 Squadron at RAF Brize Norton THE current 24 Squadron who the Association is so closely linked. No 24 Squadron is the 5th most senior Squadron in the Royal Air Force. Details about the Britannia or Whispering Giant that graced the skies around Lyneham and indeed the rest of the World may be found at this link run by David Berry. This Association is very active and running a restoration programme from RAF Kemble. RAF Amateur Radio Society corporate membership is open to those who are serving RAF personnel, or those who served as RAF personnel, holding a current Amateur Radio Transmitting License or who are Short-wave Listeners.

RAF Apprentices & Boy Entrants - the purpose of this site is primarily to give ex-RAF Apprentices and Boy Entrants the chance to get in touch with their Associations, Entry Groups and ex-App/BE colleagues.

The Aircrew Association is a welcoming fraternity which, by its very existence, perpetuates the comradeship unique amongst aircrew. Shared experiences form the basis of an understanding between members and we seek to extend this as widely as possible. RAF Transport Command Veterans Association formerly Lyneham Old Boys. Have a browse to find out all about what they are doing at the moment. It is open to all ex-RAF Transport Command service personnel, hold reunions arranges visits to various stations, publishes a twice-yearly journal and maintains a large contact list.

36 Squadron started life in World War 1, flying fighters in defence of UK airspace. A change of role from offensive operations to the vital transport role took place in 1958, when the squadron re-formed at Colerne in Wiltshire, operating the Handley-Page Hastings along side 24 Sqn. The Air Loadmaster Association was formed on the 11th November 2001 to renew and foster friendship amongst those who had qualified for the award of the Royal Air Force Air Quartermaster, Air Loadmaster brevet, along with those personnel who carried out these duties prior to the brevet award being acknowledged as our own. -

Canadian Air Force - information is presented by individual Wings and is viewable in English or French.
Canadian Air Force Association - formed in 1948 as a national advocacy group to support the Royal Canadian Air Force, and to unite Air Force veterans of the Second World War.
In 1996 there were nearly 16,000 regular wing members and members-at-large, and an estimated 5,000 associate members.
United States Air Force - the official pages for the USAF. There are a large number of links to individual Commands and to pages of historical interest. This site has excellent photos.
Royal Air Force Association South Africa - Following WWII a number of branches of the Association were formed, though some have since closed. RAFA's South African Area is currently represented by eight branches and now has an Area Office in Cape Town. You might like to know that our RNZAF cousins have a website. It is www.airforce.mil.nz and covers recent media briefings, squadron news, et al. Sadly the Kiwis have been shrunk to a fraction of their original size. Nontheless, they retain their wonderful spirit and incredible talent for innovation.

Winds of Hope The Web Site of Brian Jones and his round the world balloon partner Bertrand Piccard. Brian is a now a member of 24 Squadron Association, he was an Air Loadmaster during his fixed wing days This site is dedicated to raising hope, especially for children - whose plight is not at the forefront of the public eye. A tribute to the Douglas DC3 Dakota can be found on this link. Try also using any of the search engines as a good starting point for this aircraft which made an appearance at one of our ReUnions at RAF Lyneham flown by Air Atlantique. It served with 24 Squadron until 1952.
A member of the UK MAMS, now living in Canada who flew with 24 Squadron on many occasions has set up a web site for old boys. Visit the UKMAMS site or e-mail Tony Gale for more details. For all those WWI aircraft and RFC fans, the site to visit is Cross and Cockade who have a wealth of knowledge on the subject.
CAlM or Children's Cancer and Leukemia Movement is the charity now being sponsored by 24 Squadron and the Association. Calm is a independent local charity, caring for the needs of families within the Swindon and Marlborough NHS Trust, who have and had children or young persons dealing with Cancer or Leukemia. The Squadron has for many years supported Burton Hill House School in Malmesbury until its closure in 2007. The Public Record Office at Kew, London offers very useful guidance on how to research someone who was in the RFC or the RAF. Various guidance leaflets are available on the Internet.

Nice Airplanes Limited is run by Martin Weir the CEO and an ex RAF man to boot. They will make whichever Hastings and markings you would like. As we make single models, we always put it into the colour scheme that a customer would like and we don't charge extra for it. In fact we do not limit ourselves to Hastings and will quite happily make any 24 Sqn aircraft, indeed any RAF aircraft for that matter. Why not visit the site? Thunder and Lightning is a plane spotter site with information on aircraft and airfield sites. We have set the link to RAF Lyneham to start to off.
